77Fox pricing explained: what AI credits buy

Free desktop essentials, four cloud AI plans from £1.49 to £36.99 a month, what a credit is worth, and why local models and your own API key never cost credits.

77Fox is free on the Windows desktop: the prompt library, finance and tasks, server and hardware monitoring, MCP and encrypted sync have no paywall. What you can pay for is 77Fox cloud AI, sold as four monthly plans that differ only in how many AI credits they include: Plus at £1.49 for 250K credits, Pro at £6.99 for 1.5M, Max at £21.99 for 9M and Max 20× at £36.99 for 30M. One million credits equal one US dollar of protected model cost, each cloud request settles at the provider's actual cost times 1.20, and when credits run out cloud AI simply stops. Local AI models and bring-your-own-key providers never consume credits.

This guide explains the four numbers on the pricing page, what a credit actually buys, and which features you can use without spending any.

The plans

Plan Price per month (GBP) AI credits per month Included features
Free desktop £0 0 (local models and your own keys still work) Prompt library, finance and tasks, server and hardware monitoring, MCP, encrypted sync
Plus £1.49 250K All cloud features
Pro £6.99 1.5M All cloud features
Max £21.99 9M All cloud features
Max 20× £36.99 30M All cloud features

Prices are set and billed in GBP, tax not included; amounts shown in other currencies are approximate. You subscribe and manage your plan in the web console and can cancel at any time.

What a credit is worth

The unit is simple to reason about: 1,000,000 AI credits equal $1 of protected model cost. Each cloud request settles at the provider's actual cost multiplied by 1.20, so a request that costs the provider $0.01 consumes 12,000 credits. On the Plus plan, 250K credits therefore cover roughly $0.21 of underlying model usage per month; on Max 20×, 30M credits cover roughly $25.

When credits run out, cloud AI stops. There are no overdrafts and no surprise bills, which is the reason the plan sizes are fixed rather than metered.

What the cloud plans actually unlock

Every plan includes the same set of cloud features; only the credit allowance differs:

  • Web translation. Full-page and selection translation in Chrome powered by 77Fox cloud AI, with a bilingual view and support for dynamic pages. Cache hits cost no credits.
  • AI in-video ad blocking. Detection of ad segments on Bilibili and YouTube, including host-read sponsorships, skipped automatically.
  • Cloud verification codes. SMS and email one-time codes delivered to the browser as suggestions beside the input field.
  • AI news. Selection, translation and ranking of technology news in your interface language.
  • AI assistant. The desktop voice and text assistant, with cloud models billed from the same credit pool.
  • Encrypted sync. AES-256-GCM sync through your own Google Drive is listed on every plan, and the free core stays free.

When you spend nothing

Three routes bypass credits entirely:

  1. Local AI models. Local AI installs with one click and runs chat, speech-to-text and speech synthesis on your machine, offline. Page translation and prompt translation can also use a local model.
  2. Your own API key. Bring-your-own-key providers bill your own account and never touch 77Fox credits.
  3. The free default translation channel in the prompt library, which needs no configuration.

So a user who runs a local model for translation and the assistant, and never enables the cloud features, can use 77Fox indefinitely at £0.

Choosing a plan

If you mostly Consider
Want cloud verification codes and occasional page translation Plus
Translate foreign-language pages daily and skip ads in long videos Pro
Use the voice assistant heavily with cloud models Max
Run cloud AI across several machines all day Max 20×

Because every plan includes the same features, the only question is how many credits you burn in a month. Start low; upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing.

Upgrades, downgrades and cancellation

  • Upgrade: takes effect immediately, billed pro rata for the remainder of the period.
  • Downgrade: applies from the next period.
  • Cancel: the plan stays active until the end of the paid period, then cloud AI stops. Local features continue to work.
